Carl Stewart Byington is an Atlanta, Georgia-based entrepreneur, engineer, publisher, and adventurer. He provides consultation services for prognostics and health management (PHM) analytics and engineered Condition-based Maintenance (CBM) solutions through his company, PHM Design, LLC (Ellijay, GA).  Prior to founding his company, Carl worked for Sikorsky Aircraft and Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems. Carl was also an owner of Impact Technologies, LLC. Prior to these efforts, Carl was a Department Head at the Pennsylvania State University Applied Research Lab in State College, PA and a rocket scientist at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. 

Carl Byington is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania and George Washington University with Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering degrees. He also did some Ph.D. coursework at Penn State University while working at ARL.
